"Fantasies in Music"
is a program of intimate and evocative piano works to stir the imagination. Visual associations are scattered throughout by programmatic titles ("The Valley of the Butterflies"), expressive interpretive titles ("In sad meditation"), or picturesque implications ("Festivamente"). It is an artistic narrative of musical style taking the listener from the Baroque era with character pieces of François Couperin, to the Romanticism of Frederic Chopin, to the exquisiteness of Claude Debussy, to the rousing spirit of Dmitri Kabalevsky, rounded out with modern soundscapes from the 20th century featuring two important Canadian composers of the past, Violet Archer and Jean Coulthard. A musical art gallery for the listener.
